I phones and Onions

In our country…people are more concerned with the image…well a kind of image where I phone seems to be affordable for those people who can bargain with the poor vendors and farmers on the market price of 1 Kg of Onion.

So what I want to draw attention towards is that people in our country are more willing to offer their hard earned money to a US company…but they think at least ten times before spending rupee 1 more on something which is really gonna help their own people. Its sad not because why they give thousands of bucks to an foreign company and not on the poors and needy, but its sad because they never think and ask authorities why there is a whole world of difference while deciding price for a foreign commodity and a poor farmer in debt selling their hard work in form of onion in Re. 1 for several Kgs.

Because we have elected an government and now we have forgotten the agenda which was promised before begging votes. Now if government will decide to pay farmers Rs. 6 per Kg of Onion as government did in Madhya Pradesh in India what can we do we are ok with that. But then simultaneously this government forgets to tell public that we have paid farmers just Rs. 6 per Kg so no one have to pay more than Rs. 10 per Kg to any vendor. Only poor farmers will get a deal on so called “only profit no loss” but they hardly get a deal of “no profit no loss”.

My concern is not why government sets a policy on farmers only. I am only concerned and every citizen of this country should why low prices are paid only to farmers. Why government is more biased towards multinational brands and branded retail outlets for any commodity and not supporting their own people who are actually feeding country.

So if you can’t bargain on the utilities like Cold Drinks, Mobile Phones, and other branded items…then please don’t bargain with poor vendors and farmers too. And if possible ask government to make a policy due to which farmers get the handsome value for their hard work. Then only new generation will opt farming as vocation not as manipulation.

Forgotten Heroes

This country has seen once a tremendous success in the growth of food and fodder. And that time was when the India achieved the goal of “Green Revolution”. But green revolution came from where? Was it only the achievement of farmers or it was a collective work of Researchers, Farmers, Government, and Nature. Yes no one can deny the fact that in India most of the water needed for irrigation comes from rain water. It means a majority of farmers are dependent on the availability of rain water every year. Isn’t it is like playing a game of cards where most of things rely on probability.

And the water is not the only issue which is being faced by the most of the farmers in India. Stats show that majority of farmers in our nation are solely dependant on farming. And the water sacarcity is not the only problem here. The problem is from the roots itself. Roots where the government and society should work together. The technology has been developed at its best. But what is the use of such a technology and knowledge when the mass producer of food in India – A Farmer, is not aware of any of these things. 

They say we have the quality seeds to grow best crops, but when a farmer is not able to exploit these seeds then from where the hell will come good crop.

Lack of farming education and the lethargic attitude of state and central governments towards the farmers is really a big problem growing at an alarming rate. Because if the farmers will keep on suiciding because of there non profitable products, and there life in heavy debts of banks and money lenders. A day will come when most of them will be either dead or quit their work. The important question is “From where would we get the food for our living?” and at “What cost we would import the grains and veggies?” “Which government will take the responsibility of uncontrolled price hikes of these utilities?”

Recently I remember an issue, in Bundelkhand region of India, due to lack of water and unavailable rain water the farmers lost a very large amount of what they grown. The drought condition was even became worst when the state government and central government instead of taking steps, were playing cheap tricks of politics and the farmers were suffering because of them.

Its a pity for any nation not only for India, where the real heroes, food producers, the farmers suffer a lot due to the lack of interest that governments show. They commit suicides, sell their lands to big industries, quit their profession to work in some factory to do labour. 

Who has got the answers for this problem? The present measures are not enough there is a need of revolutionizing the agriculture and farming to control the price hikes in food materials, farmers should get proper price for their products from government agencies, otherwise only hiking the salary of government employees will of no use after some decades. 

There is a need of another Green Revolution! And “drought or suiciding farmers” like scenarios are not going to make that dream come true anyway.
